SourceForge gives you access to detailed data about which companies are researching your software or category on SourceForge. Activate this data to run powerful retargeting campaigns, ABM campaigns, and hone in your sales team on in-market buyers when it matters most. You can access this on the "Buyer Intent" tab within your SourceForge product admin section.

SourceForge Buyer Intent Data is available to all SourceForge customers, but only customers on the SourceForge Premium plan or above will get full intent data reports. Depending on your plan tier, you can export Buyer Intent Data via CSV, send it to 7,000+ apps via Zapierο»Ώ, integrate it with 6senseο»Ώ, or use our Buyer Intent APIο»Ώ.

What is Buyer Intent Data?

Buyer Intent Data refers to information that identifies a potential customer's likelihood and readiness to purchase a product or service, offering valuable insights for B2B industries like software. This data pinpoints which organizations are exploring your offerings, their buying stage, and even interest in competitors, helping businesses focus on high-potential leads and craft effective strategies. SourceForge Buyer Intent Data reveals which companies are viewing your product pages, categories, and competitors, turning uncertainty into actionable insights to drive sales.

Exploring Buyer Intent Data

This dashboard highlights the demographic and firmographic data associated with active buyers that have viewed your content on SourceForge and Slashdot. The data in the Buyer Intent Data report is comprised of all visitors that SourceForge has been able to identify. Unknown visitors or visitors we are not able to identify are not included in the data below. Data on this page is from visitors who have viewed your product listing, comparisons, categories, or competitors (based on your plan).

See which companies are showing intent for your product or category

Learn which companies are researching your product, category, or competitors on SourceForge, and sort by Company Name, Company Domain, Company Size, Revenue, Industry, Functional Area, Headquarters, Buyer's Location, and Date Last Visited.

Select a date range, and in the "Stats For" dropdown, select the buyer intent data that you want to see. You can choose between your listing, your categories, or your competitors (based on your SourceForge plan).

You can export this data to CSV. When you export this data to CSV, you can also see which pages (URLs) on SourceForge and Slashdot that the potential buyers were looking at.

You can also create segments that will be saved for future use. You can have these segments sent to you via our Buyer Intent Digest on email or Slack.

Aggregate Company Data

In addition to information about the specific companies researching your product on SourceForge, you also get access to a dashboard of aggregate statistics about the companies that are evaluating your product or category on SourceForge. These graphs will update in real-time as you select new filters from the filters above.

How to Create Buyer Intent Data Segments

Step 1: Use the filters at the top of the report to filter the segment you want to build

You can filter your segment by:

  • Date range
  • Region
  • Country
  • Companies
  • Activity (what category, product, or competitor the buyer is researching)
  • Company size
  • Industry
  • Search (you can enter any search term you want to apply to the segment)

Once you've added your filters, you're ready to create your segment.

Step 2: Create new segment

  1. Click on the white dropdown that says "Create or select a segment"
  2. Then click "Create New Segment"

Step 3: Name and save your segment

Enter the name of your segment, then click the green "Save Segment" button.

Now that your segment is created, it'll be saved in your segment dropdown library and you can come back to it quickly whenever you need it.

Segment Use Cases

There are a number of ways you can use your SourceForge Buyer Intent Data segments:

  • Export the segment to CSV by simply clicking the blue "Download CSV" button
  • Get a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly report sent to you or other people in your company via emailο»Ώ or Slackο»Ώ
  • Use the Buyer Intent APIο»Ώ or Zapier Integrationο»Ώ to send the Buyer Intent Data from this segment to other platforms or systems

Buyer Intent Digest: Get your Buyer Intent Data emailed to you regularly

Get your Buyer Intent data automatically emailed to you or sent to you via Slack. To set up automatic Buyer Intent Data emails to you or anyone in your company, simply click the "Set up now" link within the Buyer Intent tab in your SourceForge admin section.

You can set up an email that’ll be delivered automatically at a regular interval that contains a CSV file of all the companies in your Buyer Intent report, or get this via Slack. You can also create segments, which will filter the data that is regularly sent to you based on filters you choose.

You can choose to get your Buyer Intent emailed to you daily, weekly, bi-weekly (every two weeks), or monthly. You can also have the Buyer Intent Data emailed to other people in your company. After you set up the Buyer Intent Digest email, you will receive the first report within 24 hours, and then on the same day for each interval you selected (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly).
